The Institute of Education (IE-ULisboa), part of the University of Lisbon, is dedicated to research, teaching, community intervention, and policy support in the field of education and training. Its research unit, the Research & Development Center on Education and Training (UIDEF), focuses on studying education with an emphasis on Portuguese society and its historical relations. IE-ULisboa offers a range of graduate and postgraduate programs, including a PhD in Education, aimed at educating professionals involved in educational activities. The institute conducts community intervention activities to enhance public education quality and social development. Additionally, it provides scientific and technical support for designing, implementing, and evaluating education and training policies. UIDEF, organized into three research groups, coordinates research projects, training initiatives, dissemination activities, and international research networks. Its research themes focus on Education XXI and Forces of Change in Education, drawing researchers from IE and other faculties within ULisboa, as well as other higher education institutions.
